Promoting Health With People Who Use Drugs (PWUD) Training Center of Expertise
The Center of Expertise at ACR Health provides a range of services related to improving the health of people who use drugs, opioid overdose prevention, and capacity building across New York State. All of our services are grounded in harm reduction, striving to uphold dignity and reduce stigma for people who use drugs.
Services we offer:
- Free Trainings both virtual and hybrid settings, for non-clinical providers such as staff, peer workers, and supervisors at community based organizations related to improving health with people who use drugs.
- Training & Technical Assistance projects related to improving health with people who use drugs.
- A Capacity Building Initiative that aims to establish a community of advocates dedicated to fostering an inclusive culture that significantly reduces stigmatization and barriers faced by people who use drugs.

Registering for a training
- To access our training sessions, ensure you have an account on hivtrainingny.org. If you don’t have one yet, creating an account is free and straightforward!
- Once you’re account is set up and you’re logged in, refer to our training schedule above. Click on the desired training title to be directed to the registration page. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click ‘Submit’ to complete the registration.
- Upon successful registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email from hivet@health.ny.gov, along with reminder emails and essential information about the training from coe@acrhealth.org.
- If you encounter any issues with your account or password, please contract the NYS Department of Health AIDS Institute in Albany at (518) 474-3045 for assistance.
