Job Title:  CAPP Health Educator

Reports to:  CAPP Health Educator Supervisor
Salary Range:  $22.16 – $22.75 hourly

Position Summary: The CAPP Health Educator provides evidence-based sexual and reproductive health education to adolescents in schools and community settings, with a focus on pregnancy prevention, STI/HIV prevention, and healthy relationships. The role includes facilitating curriculum, conducting outreach, offering individual and group risk-reduction sessions, and maintaining accurate, confidential records to support positive youth development and program goals.

Authority and Independence
The CAPP Health Educator works under general supervision and exercises independent judgment within established policies. The role requires maintaining confidentiality, managing youth interactions, creating educational materials, and handling outreach with cultural sensitivity and professionalism.

 Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in health education or related field.
  • Experience working with youth in educational/counseling settings.
  • Familiarity with priority populations and serving those communities.

Skills and Competencies

  • Skilled in leading youth discussions on reproductive anatomy, contraception, STIs, HIV/AIDS.
  • Inclusive, non-stigmatizing approach; strong public speaking/group facilitation.
  • Organizational, documentation, data entry skills; proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint).
  • Commitment to ACR Health’s mission and confidentiality (HIPAA, Article 27-F).

Other Requirements

  • Flexible hours including evenings/weekends.
  • Valid NYS driver’s license and reliable access to insured vehicle for travel/training/outreach/client transport.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Implement work plan interventions; create culturally sensitive educational materials/presentations on sexual/reproductive health.
  • Provide personalized risk-reduction sessions for high-risk youth (11-21); make tailored referrals for family planning, HIV/STD/HCV services.
  • Maintain detailed, confidential client records; monitor testing/treatment/referral follow-up.
  • Evaluate community educational needs; conduct outreach promoting healthy relationships, teen dating violence awareness, LGBTQ+ equality.
  • Develop/maintain CAPP Youth Advisory Board; facilitate workshops for disengaged youth on life skills.
  • Track adolescent relationship/pregnancy trends, needs assessments; enhance public speaking techniques.
  • Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA, Article 27-F, ACR Health policies; protect agency data.
  • Participate in youth health committees; assist Youth Services publications/PR efforts.
  • Support department/agency projects; attend required trainings; maintain equipment.
  • Work collegially; perform other duties as assigned by Director, CPO, or CEO.
  • Ensure accurate client/service records, progress notes, encounters per policy; prepare daily/monthly reports.
  • Develop networking with community-based organizations; assist department/agency projects and initiatives.
  • Complete 24+ hours of annual curriculum-based training; attend staff meetings, workshops, team building.
  • Work collegially with all personnel; represent ACR Health professionally in community/partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Program Supervisor, Manager, Director, CPO, or CEO.

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Location:  Syracuse Office  Hours per week:  35   Work Schedule:  Full Time in Office, occasional evenings and weekends may be required for meetings, workshops, outreach, and events.
