HIV, STI, AND HEPATITIS C TESTING
We offer rapid testing for HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis C, with results available in approximately 20 minutes. Additionally, we provide screenings for chlamydia and gonorrhea. Testing is available at our Syracuse, Utica, and Watertown offices, as well as through mobile units and community outreach events.
Rapid HIV Testing
Utilizing a 4th generation rapid finger-stick test, we detect HIV antibodies with results available in approximately 20 minutes. If the initial test is positive, a confirmatory test is conducted to ensure accuracy.
Rapid Hepatitis C (HCV) Testing
We offer rapid testing for Hepatitis C using a finger-stick blood sample, providing preliminary results in about 20 minutes. Individuals who test positive are connected to appropriate medical care for further evaluation and treatment.
Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Testing
Gonorrhea and Chlamydia: Comprehensive screening includes three-site testing for gonorrhea and chlamydia—urine, throat, and rectal specimens—with results typically available within a few days.
Syphilis: A rapid finger-stick test is used to detect syphilis antibodies, delivering results in approximately 10 minutes.

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (prep)
ACR Health offers Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) services to help HIV-negative individuals reduce their risk of contracting HIV.
It’s available in multiple forms:
- A daily oral pill, such as Truvada or Descovy, which must be taken consistently to significantly reduce the chance of HIV infection.
- A long-acting injectable, such as Apretude (injections every 2 months) from one maker, and the newly-approved Yeztugo (every 6 months).
This preventive strategy is suitable for sexually active men and women, as well as individuals who inject drugs.
Daily Medication
PrEP is most effective when taken every day. Adherence to the daily regimen is crucial for maximum protection against HIV.
Regular Monitoring
Individuals on PrEP are required to undergo regular laboratory tests and HIV screenings every three months to ensure ongoing health and effectiveness of the medication.
Comprehensive Support
ACR Health provides counseling on reducing health risks and supports clients in maintaining a routine that promotes overall well-being.
Access and Affordability
There are assistance programs available to help cover the cost of PrEP for those who need financial support. ACR Health can guide clients through the process of accessing these resources.
For more information or to access PrEP services, please contact ACR Health at (315) 475-2430 or email testing@acrhealth.org.
Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)
ACR Health offers Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) services to individuals who may have been recently exposed to HIV. PEP involves taking antiretroviral medications within 72 hours of potential exposure to prevent HIV infection. The treatment course typically lasts 28 days and is most effective when initiated promptly after exposure. ACR Health provides free and confidential PEP services, including evaluation, prescription, and follow-up care. For more information or to access PEP services, please contact ACR Health at (315) 475-2430 or email testing@acrhealth.org

CHI-Correctional Health Initiative
ACR Health’s Criminal Justice Initiative (CJI) works in 7 New York State Correctional Facilities within the Watertown hub and the Oneida hub to provide risk reduction and health services to incarcerated individuals preparing for release.
CJI provides comprehensive HIV, sexually transmitted infection (STI), and Hepatitis prevention education programs for inmates. The program also offers an opportunity for inmates who are interested in pursuing New York State Peer Certification to get involved with facilitating groups and accumulate practicum hours needed for certification.
Our Linkage Specialists provide linkage and navigation services to incarcerated individuals living with HIV and/or Hepatitis C to ensure a continuum of care and a smooth transition once released back into the community. CJI connects clients to many services including medical, mental health, substance use treatment, insurance, housing, access to food and necessities, and care management.
