Schedule: Full-Time (35 hours/week; occasional evenings/weekends)

ACR Health is seeking a compassionate, organized, and motivated Syracuse SEP Program Associate to support the daily operations of our Syringe Exchange Program (SEP) in Syracuse.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about harm reduction, enjoys working directly with participants, and takes pride in maintaining organized program operations. The Syracuse SEP Program Associate plays a key role in participant engagement, overdose prevention services, sterile equipment access, inventory coordination, safer-use education, and connecting individuals to healthcare and supportive services.
As a member of ACR Health’s Harm Reduction & Prevention team, you will help reduce barriers to care, promote health equity, and support individuals in accessing services that improve health and well-being..
What You’ll Do
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
SEP Operations
- Support daily Syringe Exchange Program operations and service delivery.
- Enroll participants and maintain ongoing engagement in SEP services.
- Prepare and distribute harm reduction supplies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and accessible service environment.
- Promote access to sterile injection equipment and safe sharps disposal services.
- Assist with community sharps cleanup activities as assigned.
Inventory & Supply Management
- Serve as a primary inventory coordinator for the Syracuse SEP.
- Maintain inventory of SEP, overdose prevention, and harm reduction supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering needs.
- Organize, stock, and restock service areas.
- Prepare and distribute supplies to outreach activities and satellite service locations.
- Assist in ensuring uninterrupted access to supplies and program materials.
Participant Services
- Provide participant-centered, stigma-free harm reduction services.
- Deliver overdose prevention education and naloxone distribution.
- Assist with drug-checking services and participant education as trained and assigned.
- Connect participants to healthcare, HIV/HCV/STI services, substance use treatment and MOUD, behavioral health services, housing resources, food, benefits, and other community supports.
- Recruit participants and peer educators for program services and activities.
Community Outreach & Engagement
- Conduct outreach activities throughout Onondaga County and assigned service areas.
- Participate in educational presentations, networking activities, and community engagement opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and service providers.
- Promote awareness of harm reduction services and available resources.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and timely participant records, referrals, service documentation, and outreach records.
- Complete required reports and data collection activities.
- Ensure compliance with agency policies, confidentiality requirements, and applicable regulations, including HIPAA and Article 27-F.
- Maintain professional standards and represent ACR Health positively within the community.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Relevant education in Human Services, Public Health, Social Work, Healthcare, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- At least one year of experience in social services, public health, healthcare, harm reduction, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing substance use, housing instability, mental health challenges, justice involvement, or other barriers to care is highly preferred.
- Experience working with LGBTQIA+, TGNCNB, BIPOC, and other historically underserved communities preferred.
- Experience providing direct services and participant support preferred.
Other Requirements
- Valid New York State driver’s license.
- Reliable access to an insured vehicle for work-related travel, outreach, training, and occasional client transportation.
- Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends for outreach activities, community events, and meetings.
