Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in health education or related
- Skilled in leading discussions and teaching classes to youth on reproductive health topics, including reproductive anatomy, contraceptive methods, STIs, and HIV/AIDS, across diverse settings.
- Proven experience working with youth, showcasing inclusivity and non-stigmatizing behavior in their role.
- Familiarity or experience with the priority population and the community being served.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Must demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission and vision of ACR Health.
- Must have access to a reliable and insured vehicle that meets DMV standards, along with a valid NYS driver’s license, for necessary travel.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Implement and execute interventions as specified in assigned work plans.
- Create culturally sensitive and appropriately leveled educational and risk reduction materials and presentations to enhance knowledge about sexual and reproductive health, covering topics such as pregnancy prevention, safer sex practices, and healthy relationships.
- Provide personalized risk reduction sessions for youth aged 11-21 who are at a higher risk for domestic violence and unplanned pregnancy. This includes making referrals to ACR Health programs and other organizations that offer family planning services, counseling, and treatment for HIV/STDs/HCV, tailored to meet each client’s needs.
- Keep detailed, precise, and confidential client records for personalized services provided to youth, including monitoring follow-up on testing, treatment, and referrals.
- Evaluate the educational needs of identified and targeted communities and organizations.
- Conduct outreach to promote CAPP program activities, focusing on fostering a culture of equality and respect in all relationships, including among LGBTQ youth. Raise awareness about teen dating violence and healthy relationships, and mobilize teens to take action if they or their peers are at risk or in danger.
- Develop and maintain a CAPP Youth Advisory Board.
- Facilitate workshops and activities for youth disengaged from their families, peers, and school systems, focusing on skill development in budgeting, employment, education, and nutrition.
- Expand knowledge on adolescent relationships and unintended pregnancy, including tracking new trends and maintaining up-to-date statistics and needs assessments.
- Enhance public speaking techniques, employing a reality-based style for educational presentations to diverse groups.
- Adhere to best practices for confidentiality in all job duties and communications, in accordance with HIPAA, Article 27-F, ACR Health’s policies and procedures, and other regulations. Protect agency data by following confidentiality procedures and protocols.
- Participate in community-based committees, meetings, and workgroups related to the health and well-being of youth, as assigned.
- Assist in creating Youth Services publications, such as brochures and handouts, tailored to diverse populations, and work with the Public Relations Department to promote CAPP Services in Onondaga County.
- Contribute to the general work of the Youth Services Department, including special projects and general agency programs.
- Attend all required and recommended staff trainings and in-services.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Youth, Family, & Education Services, Chief Program Officer, and Chief Executive Officer.
