ACR Health was founded in 1983. Known then as AIDS Task Force of CNY, our singular mission was AIDS: to bring resources and comfort to those with AIDS and to stop the spread of HIV in our assigned nine-county area of responsibility in the Central, Northern, and Mohawk Valley regions of New York State.
Now, as ACR Health embarks on our 35th year, our charge has grown to include Care Management for those with chronic illnesses; Q Centers for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth; Syringe Exchanges in three cities; a Medical Clinic for clients who use substances; comprehensive health insurance navigation and advocacy; as well as many other programs and lines of business.
Through it all, we have not forgotten our original mission to bring resources to those with HIV/AIDS and to stop the spread of the now-stoppable disease.
Today, due to New York’s aggressive blueprint to End AIDS, there is a 79% decrease in new HIV cases in New York over the past 25 years. Still, new HIV cases come, and people still die of AIDS.
